"My passion for languages was evident and there was only one thing I was interested in studying - translation"
Multilingual beginnings
I was born and raised in Uruguay, in the border with Brazil, this fact allowed me to grow in a multi-cultural environment, where Spanish and Portuguese were always in my daily activities.
My mother tongue is Spanish but I also studied Portuguese since I was young to acquire fluidity and confidence to use both languages separately. At the age of 5 I started English lessons and at the age of 12 my curiosity made me start learning French as well.
By the time I was 18, my passion for languages was evident and there was only one thing I was interested in studying - translation.

Passion for languages and… science!
With my Bacherlor's Degree in Legal Translation in 2008 I started working for a translation agency mainly translating contracts,
insurance policies, certificates, degrees, articles of incorporation and patents. At that point, I became aware of the importance of translating things I like and which I am interested in.
After translating hundreds of patents, mainly in the fields of Medicine, Pharmaceutics, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry, I developed a great interest in scientific research and medical papers. I realized I could spend hours doing research on the web, in libraries, talking to specialists with great pleasure in order to render perfect translations. This led me to quit my job and pursue a Master’s Degree in Medical and Health Translation in 2012.

Career in translation
Since then I work as a freelancer,
I am a full-time Medical Spanish Translator. I translate from English, Brazilian Portuguese, and after living and studying 8 years in The Netherlands, Dutch is now my fourth working language.
Continuous development
My academic training didn't stop there. I’ve been regularly attending work-shops and courses and currently I'm taking two on-line courses, one from the Vanderbilt University on Personalized Medicine and the other from Leiden University on Clinical Kidney Transplantation.
Science and medicine are advancing fast and my aim is to be in pace with them to learn the state of the art updates on these fields to provide high quality and accuracy in my translations into Spanish.
Academic experience
I worked as a Lecturer on the BSc in Spanish-Portuguese Translation
at Universidade de Brasília, Brazil, on the practical Portuguese to Spanish Scientific Translation module and on the Translation Theory module between 2012 and 2013.
